MIAMI SEAQUARIUM TO REOPEN - FEBRUARY 11, 2006

MIAMI, FL – Refreshed and rejuvenated, Miami Seaquarium is pleased to announce its Reopening following Hurricane Wilma on Saturday, February 11, 2006. As the park celebrates the next 50 years, it welcomes back South Florida with a new look, new shows and a special reopening offer. Guests who visit during the month of February will receive a free annual pass with a full price paid admission.

“We look forward to getting back to what we do best,” commented Andrew Hertz, General Manager at Miami Seaquarium. “As we reopen, Miami Seaquarium maintains its commitment to providing entertainment, education, wildlife conservation and community involvement. We look forward to starting the next 50 years and invite our friends from the community to join in on the celebration.”

The park will reopen with a special reopening offer which will allow all guests who visit the park during the month of February and pay full price admission to receive a free annual pass. The pass will allow guests to come back anytime during the year including for the extremely popular annual Easter Egg Hunts, Splashtacular Summer events, Monster Splash Halloween Bash and Winter Kids Fest. The annual pass provides for discounts on the park’s camp programs, swim with the dolphins experience and park merchandise.

The park’s Discovery Bay and Shark Channel, which both suffered extensive damage due to Hurricane Wilma, have been restored. Guests may enjoy Discovery Bay’s endangered mangrove habitat which is home to Nile Crocodiles, endangered sea turtles, white tailed deer, alligators, wild birds, herons, egrets and ibis, along with Shark Channel, home to brown nurse sharks and one of the park’s more popular exhibits.

In addition, Miami Seaquarium will unveil its new Sea Lion Show, Salty and the Reef Rangers, which will feature the sea lion stars at Miami Seaquarium as they show off their athletic and comedic abilities in a whole new show at the Golden Dome. The new show features underwater themed music.

Plus guests may enjoy the popular Flipper the Dolphin Show, which takes place at the Flipper Lagoon, film location for much of the popular 1960s television show of the same name. The Flipper dolphins demonstrate the grace and intelligence of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. The show includes jumps, spins, tailwalks and flips, all choreographed to music and accompanied by lively and informative narration. Audience participation segments personalize the performance for park guests.

Additionally, the centerpiece of Miami Seaquarium remains the Whale & Dolphin Stadium, home to Lolita and her Pacific white-sided dolphin companions. Guest of all ages will be thrilled as the natural grace, beauty and intelligence of these animals is highlighted through the interaction of animal, trainer and guest.

Upon reopening Miami Seaquarium will also continue the “Swim with our Dolphins Program,” a two-hour program, led by Seaquarium's Marine Mammal Training Staff, which offers guests an insightful glance at dolphin behavior up-close. The ‘Swim with Our Dolphins’ experience includes an interactive educational segment in a classroom environment, a familiarization tour of Miami Seaquarium, and a one-on-one swim with a dolphin in the lagoon made famous by the 1960’s Flipper Dolphin television series.
