The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has given a lively face to its popular consumer website, www.TicketForFun.com--a friendly new character, literally the shape of a ticket fashioned with a big smile and athletic shoes. Now, IAAPA—the world’s largest trade association for the amusement parks and attractions industry—is asking kids to develop names for the little ticket with a happy face!

“What else but a ticket that has come to life could be a better fit for this exceptional web site?” chimes J. Clark Robinson, president and CEO of IAAPA. “We are thrilled to welcome this ticket, girl or boy, as the new addition to the IAAPA family, and we think asking children of all ages is the best way to create the perfect name for it.” Starting October 17, 2005, IAAPA will accept name nominations from children ages 5 to 12. To enter the contest, contestants are asked to visit www.TicketForFun.com and access the link, “Fun Competition.” The contest also hopes to evoke fun feelings about past or future experiences at amusement parks for children. “IAAPA’s attraction and theme park members are the centerpiece of many young childrens’ vacations, and we want to capture their enthusiasm and charisma for our family focused, kid-friendly industry,” Robinson said. Final selection of the ticket character’s name will take place November 14-19, 2005, at the IAAPA Attractions Expo 2005 Annual Conference and Trade Show being held in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia World Congress Center. At the Trade Show, which is the largest worldwide gathering of amusement park and attractions professionals, more than 28,000 attendees will be asked to vote for their favorite choice from the nominations. “We want everyone to join in the selection of the ticket’s name because of the advantages he provides to our members and consumers,” Robinson added. “By visiting our ticket mascot at www.TicketForFun.com, families are able to access ideas about park visits, fun facts and important safety tips, while our facilities are encouraged to maximize their exposure on the website to promote their attractions, special events and promotions.” As the association’s consumer web site, www.TicketForFun.com offers a wealth of information on amusement parks and more to families and children, and web site visitors won’t be surprised to find the energetic new host everywhere because he loves to jump from activity to activity including bumper car rides, dolphin shows, candy stores and more.
TicketForFun.com has a worldwide directory of amusement parks, safety tips, fun facts and more for the amusement park and attractions industry. In October 2005, www.TicketForFun.com will also debut a games page intended for children or parent’s to print out worksheets to take on the road. The game pages include options like a maze, riddles or word find and are the perfect solution to filling empty time for the restless traveling child.
