GUESTS OF ALL AGES ENTER THE OH-ZONE! AT LAKE WINNEPESAUKAH
The South’s favorite family amusement park rises to new heights of fun and excitement during the 2006 season as Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park - a mainstay in Chattanooga, Tennessee for over 80 years – dares guests to enter the OH-ZONE!, a freefall ride where guests plummet to the ground at a breathtaking 4.6Gs!
“At 140 feet, this is the tallest ride we’ve ever added at Lake Winnepesaukah,” stated Talley Green of Lake Winnepesaukah. “It’s double the height of our world-famous wooden roller coaster, The Cannon Ball, and drops riders at a speed of fifty miles per hour!”
Two cranes, a 120-foot hydraulic lift, semi-trailers, and a full crew were required to erect the ride and place it in its new home at Lake Winnepesaukah. Crews were busy at the park during the winter getting the site ready for the OH-ZONE!’s arrival. “In prepping the sight, we’ve actually moved the Fly-O-Plane ride to another part of the park,” offered Green.
Guests who ride OH-ZONE! this summer will get an impressive view of the Cannon Ball’s lift hill as they rise over the roller coaster during their tower ascent. “We’re so excited about the arrival of OH-ZONE!, we wanted to make certain it had a prime location in the park,” added Green. In addition, guests who board OH-ZONE! have an opportunity for a picturesque view of nearby Lookout Mountain against the horizon.
The new ride offers guests a 14-story freefall at a breathtaking 4.6Gs. As an early rider exclaimed, “It was completely awesome … It takes your breath away.” Towering over Lake Winnepesaukah, OH-ZONE! permanently changed the skyline of the South’s favorite family amusement park. During the daytime, the awe-inspiring structure thrills & delights guests of all ages and, by night, the illuminated tower serves as a billboard in the sky for all to see.
Manufactured by A.R.M. Inc., Larson International, Inc. and Velocity Magnetics, OH-ZONE! is the first permanent installation in the world of this brand of drop tower to feature a round ride carriage, allowing guests to sit closer to friends and family. “Lake Winnepesaukah is a family park,” offered Green. “Even with a ride as thrilling as this, everyone in the family who is at least 42-inches tall can enjoy it together as they experience the exhilarating drop.”
Admission to Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park is only $5.00. An Unlimited Ride Pass is available for only $19.00 and parking is always free! Guests under 21 years of age must be accompanied by a guest 21 or over and must purchase an all day ride pass or a value strip of 14 tickets for $11.00. Or, they must be a member of a chaperoned group. Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park has been recognized as one of “America’s Top Ten Family Amusement Parks” by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
